23 - Dianne Martin: The CEO of WeRPN
/My guest today is Dianne Martin, CEO of nursing association WeRPN. I first met Dianne in 2006. I had been in business for myself for about three years and I was making dozens of cold calls every day to find media training clients. Of the thousands of calls I made over the years, Dianne is one of the very few people who didn’t hang up the phone. That was the beginning of a professional relationship that’s lasted many years and, more importantly, she has become a close and trusted friend.
Dianne has been a nurse for more than four decades. She’s also the daughter of a nurse and mother to a nurse. Healthcare is in her genes. Her middle name is Florence for God’s sake! She is also an exceptional leader and, over the years, has become one of the most trusted voices in healthcare in Canada. Having seen her in action for nearly a decade and a half, I can honestly say that she is a leader who will always choose the ‘right’ thing over the easy thing.
We had a wide-ranging conversation, touching on the state of healthcare in the province, a few media relations stories from yesteryear, comments and observations about what CEOs should and shouldn’t be tweeting, the Harry and Meghan saga and much more.
