32 - Grant Ainsley: Life as a media trainer, the state of journalism and more
/Grant Ainsley is one of the top media trainers in Canada. Based in Edmonton, Alberta, Grant has spent most of his life in and around the media. We talked about his early days getting into the world of journalism, how he got into the business of media training, the state of journalism today, where things could be headed in the future and much more. There are also some great tips in this interview for people who are looking to improve their media relations skills.

I’ve been aware of Grant for quite some time. Technically speaking, we are competitors, in that we provide similar services to similar clients. But that’s precisely what made this such an entertaining conversation (well, to me anyway). There are hundreds if not thousands of people in North America who include media training as a service they provide. But there’s a very short list of people who specialize in it exclusively and I have found that I really enjoy speaking with those people. I enjoy their world view, the war stories, the anecdotes and looking at the philosophy of media relations through the eyes of another person who knows the ins and outs of it so well.
